For Immediate Release
Will County Communities Select New Electricity Supplier
July 19th, 2012 Joliet, Illinois
The 16 municipalities of the Will Electric Aggregation Group have selected FirstEnergy Solutions as the new electric supplier for their communities. The WEAG communities represent just over 300,000 residents. The WEAG has negotiated a 24 month rate of 4.83 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for a 100% green option on behalf of its residents and small businesses. When compared to the Commonwealth Edison rate of 8.32 cents per kWh, this represents a 42% savings or about $300 a year for the average household. Additionally, there are no early termination fees associated with this program.
In the next few weeks, eligible residential and small businesses customers will receive a notice from their municipality and FirstEnergy Solutions that will state the offer and provide instructions for opting-out of the program, for community members not interested in participating. Customers wishing to participate in the program will not need to take any action to be included. Customers who desire to opt-out will be able to do so with no penalty for a 21-day period following postmark of the notice.
Residents and small businesses may receive solicitations from other suppliers over the next few weeks to switch their account. If a notice is not explicitly marked as being from their municipality or Commonwealth Edison, customers should assume it is not connected to the electric aggregation program. For any questions, residents may either visit their municipality’s website or call their City I Village Hall or visit www.willelectricaggregation.org .
