    U.S. Route 6 Closure at CN (EJ & E) Crossing


    April 15, 2013 Press Release:

    The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the US 6-Canadian National Railroad (formerly EJ&E Railway) grade crossing located at the west village limits of Channahon will be closed on Monday, April 29, 2013.  US 6 will be closed or approximately 7 days to allow the Canadian NAtional railroad to rebuild their crossing.  US traffic will proceed as follows:

    US 6 eastbound traffic will proceed north on Brisbin Road to Interstate 80; thence east on Interstate 80 to Ridge Road (Exit 122); thence south on Ridge Road back to US 6.

     US 6 westbound traffic will proceed north on Ridge Road to Interstate 80; thence west on Interstate 80 to Brisbin Road (Exit 116); thence south on Brisbin Road back to US 6.

    Motorists are urged to use caution and expect some delays while traveling on the detour route.

     


     

     

    The railroad crossing on US Route 6, just West of McLinden Road will be closed for repairs from 04/29/13 to 05/06/13, according to IDOT.

    The alternate route (detour) will be Ridge Road to I-80 to Brisbin Road and also in reverse.
