Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment
Channahon, IL– The Channahon Police Department and Chief Shane Casey announced that a team of assessors from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police will arrive February 20, 2018 to complete a 2 day on-site assessment of the organization, examining all aspects of the Channahon Police Department, including the policies and operation.
The department will be assessed on the basis of 67 separate ILEAP standards regarding administration, operations, training, and personnel. The Channahon Police Department has been an accredited agency with ILEAP since January 2010. The department has revamped its policies and procedures, and is seeking re-accreditation of the Tier 1 standards.
As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments to the assessment team by calling (815) 467- 5152 on Tuesday February 20, 2018 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments at the public information session are limited to 5 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the ILEAP standards. These standards for Tier 1 may be viewed online at www.ilchiefs.org
The assessors will include Deputy Chief Holly Nearing (Retired), of the Champaign Police Department, and Deputy Chief Mary Frake, of the Lake in the Hills Police Department.
