Public Works Administrative Assistant

The Village of Channahon is seeking a full-time administrative assistant with a strong customer service background.  We are looking for an independent, self-starter with excellent organizational skills. Strong written and oral communication skills in person, on phone, and via computer are required.

Candidate must have proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel and Access.  Must have the ability to learn and use financial software.  Must be able to draft memos, reports, newsletter articles, web page content, letters and other correspondence.

We seek a candidate with a working knowledge of public works and construction operations, contracts and safety practices; previous municipal experience a plus. Successful candidate will have the ability to function in busy work atmosphere with frequent interruptions.

A high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by college-level course work in business or secretarial science; considerable secretarial experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  This position is a Grade 7 pay scale with a range of $48,872 to $65,976 annually.
