Chief Building Official – Village of Channahon
The Village of Channahon, Illinois, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief Building Official. This full-time position reports to the Director of Community Development and will be the primary staff person responsible for all residential and commercial plan reviews; residential and commercial building inspections; enforcement of building and property maintenance codes; and coordination of all reviews and inspections referred to outside consultants. This position will serve as the Village’s key technical building liaison and will assist other Village departments as needed.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction science, or related field; or considerable experience in construction or as a building inspector or contractor including supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills. Possess a thorough knowledge of the energy code, international building codes and national electrical codes, state plumbing codes, mechanical codes, familiarity of zoning ordinances, general construction codes and considerable skills in applying knowledge of building codes. The ideal candidate would preferably possess ICC Certifications including but not limited to Plans Examiner, Residential Building Inspector and Commercial Building Inspector. Experience in municipal or county government and/or construction trades a plus.

The Village of Channahon is accepting applications for a full time Village Administrator.
Channahon is located 45 miles southwest of Chicago, just west of Joliet and east of Morris in southwest Will County and eastern Grundy County, encompassing portions of Channahon, Troy and Aux Sable Townships. Population of 12,560 in 2010 Census.
The preferred candidate shall possess experience with a variety of tasks and duties associated with the position, such as but not limited to: Proficient in budget preparation, labor negotiations and economic development; coordinate the daily operations of the village; direct, control and supervise all village departments and divisions created by the Board of Trustees. Applicant should possess excellent written and oral skills; work effectively with elected officials, staff and the public. Applicant shall posses a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or related field, Master degree preferred; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Village of Channahon Finance Director
This is an exempt/Department Head position
The preferred candidate will possess experience with a variety of tasks and duties associated with the position such as but not limited to: planning, organizing and directing all operations of the Finance Department including budgeting, accounting and internal control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, utility billing, debt management, collection, disbursement and investment of all municipal funds, long range financial planning and analysis, and other fiscal activities. Direct, control, supervise and coordinate Finance Department. Applicant should possess excellent written and oral skills; work effectively with elected officials, staff and the public. Applicant shall possess a Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business or related field; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An MPA/MBA or CPA is desirable.
