Big Brothers Big Sisters - Bowling for Kids' Sake

Please help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties have another record breaking year and help our at-risk children be matched with a carefully-screened Big Brother or Big Sister. Lend a helping hand to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties consider recruiting a team for either the Grundy or Will County Bowl for Kids’ Sake events-dates and times listed below.  

This would be a great chance for you, your friends, family &/or co-workers to take part in a fun activity outside your home or workplace. Big Brothers Big Sisters asks that each team raise a minimum of $500, $100 per person to help a kid in need. The challenge of raising $500 is great, but the rewards are even better.  Remember…it’s about HAVING FUN to help kids!

Channahon is hosting three St. Baldrick’s events this year. If you would wish to participate in any of these events please contact Officer Michael Lazzari at the Channahon Police Department (815) 467-2112 or by email mlazzari@channahon.org. If you wish to register as a shavee or volunteer for the head shaving fundraiser, you can register on stbaldricks.org and go to find an event and type in Channahon or call 1(888)899-BALD. You can also make a donation by going to the website and finding the Channahon event. All events are open to the public. If you have any question contact Officer Lazzari.

March of Dimes - March for Babies  

April 24, 2010 - 8:00am Registration, 9:00am 10K run/walk, Four Rivers Environment Center

Each year families and companies come together to walk and raise funds for the mission of the March of Dimes.

In Channahon, we are excited to have our first March for Babies supported at new site, Will County Forest Preserve Dist., For Rivers Environment Center off of Blackberry Lane in Channahon.

Our walkers will begin the walk in the Grand Hall and travel the footpath thru the Forest Preserve. 

We need your help!  We are in need of walkers, donations and volunteers!

Please join us in supporting the walk to raise funds to support research to cure Premature Births, Birth defects and Infant Mortality.  90 cents of each dollar raised goes to research.  If you are willing to walk or to donate, please register at www.marchforbabies.org and if you would like to volunteer, please contact Rhonda Richter at the Village of Channahon at 815-467-6644.

Senior's Golden Years Club Bingo & Free Lunch

The first Monday of the Month, at Noon - Channahon Township Hall.

Bingo and free lunch for senior citizens.  Bring your dimes for Bingo!  For information call 815-467-6507.

Free Souper Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, from 4-6pm - Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames Street. 

The area churches are sponsoring "Free Souper Wednesdays."  Soup, crackers, and a drink will be provided.  For more information, call 815-467-5275.
