CHANNAHON COMMUNITY BOARD

The Channahon Community Board provides information via Channel 13 of the local cable television service regarding events throughout the community. Information on the Community Board includes regular business hours of public offices; meeting times of public bodies and their committees; private charitable organizations and church services; times and dates of special events or instructions sponsored by public bodies, charitable organizations, and churches. Information may be submitted for inclusion on the Community Board to the Village of Channahon by telephone at 815/467-6644 or fax at 815/467-9774. All information on the Channahon Community Board is subject to the review and approval of the Channahon Cable Coordinator, Village Administration and the Channahon Corporate Authorities.

Provena St. Joseph Medical Center

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers serve the healthcare needs of Channahon residents at the hospital’s main campus in Morris.  Additionally, Channahon Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, formerly Channahon Medical Services, located at 25259 Reed Street, Channahon, and Minooka Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital, formerly Minooka Medical Services, located at 201 S. LIBRARY

The Three Rivers Public Library District serves the Channahon-Minooka area. The library is headquartered at 25207 West Channon Drive in Channahon, with a branch library located at 109 North Wabena in Minooka.  Both locations offer books, magazines, art prints, records, compact discs, photocopying, lamination, and fax services, typewriters and computers for public use, and special programs for children.  For pre-schoolers, the famous Snowshoes Story Hour is held during the school year.  The main library also offers videocassette and video game rentals.  For more information, contact the main library in Channahon at 815/467-6200 or the Minooka branch at 815/467-1600.

ORGANIZATIONS

Adopt-A-Spot
The Adopt-A-Spot Program was created in 1993 to help keep our roadways litter-free. The program currently consists of 23 active volunteer groups who have adopted a portion of roadway to help keep clean. One additional spot is still available for adoption. Trash bags, gloves, and cash donations are always welcome and can be brought to the Stephen M. Rittof, Sr., Municipal Building (Village Hall) at 24555 S. CHAMPS
The CHAMPS Task Force serves the Villages of Channahon, Minooka, Plainfield and Shorewood. CHAMPS provides youth-at-risk and anti-gang information and programs serving youth in schools throughout these communities. Its members include representatives from law enforcement, park districts, schools, municipalities, state’s attorney’s offices, sheriff’s police, state police, the circuit court, and the community. Annual events include a fund-raising golf outing and Teen Conference.

Chanooka Braves Youth Tackle Football
The Chanooka Braves have been providing a youth tackle football, cheerleading and pompon program for grade school and junior high children in Channahon, Minooka, and surrounding areas since the early 1970's.  The Braves are part of the Tri-County Youth Tackle Football League, which spans 5 communities in Will, Grundy, and DeKalb Counties.  The season starts with practices in late July and continues through Bowl Weekend in late October each year.  The Braves are also a co-sponsor of the annual Channahon Three Rivers Festival.

Channahon Youth Baseball League
The Channahon Youth Baseball League is a PONY (Protect Our Nations Youth) affiliated league.  The league offers the following divisions of youth baseball:  Pony, (13 and 14 yr. olds); Bronco, (11 and 12) yr. olds);  Mustang, (9 and 10 yr. olds); Pinto, (7 and 8 yr. olds); and Shetland (5 and 6 yr olds). League age is the age your child will be as of July 31st of the current year.  Their objective is to teach baseball to the youth of our community.  Keeping in mind the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, and courage.

Three Rivers Soccer Club
Three Rivers Soccer Club is a Youth Competitive Soccer Club located out of the Channahon/Minooka area.  The club began in 2002, with the start-up of the "Cheetahs" U13 girls soccer team.  The club's soccer teams will play competitive soccer in the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL), and Women's Illinois Soccer League (WISL).  There are two teams, a U10 (boys) and U13 (girls), with both going by the "Cheetahs" name.  

Greater Channahon-Minooka Area Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Channahon-Minooka Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to advance the general welfare and prosperity of its citizens and businesses.  The Chamber supports economic policies and legislative measures that strengthen and expand the growth and development of the area.  The Chamber is actively involved in presenting informative seminars, supporting community events, providing networking opportunities for local businesses, and keeping updated with Village matters.  The Chamber Board meets monthly to conduct business and plan future events.  The Chamber office can be reached by telephone at 815-521-9999 or e-mail at:  cmchamber@cbcast.com

Three Rivers Gardening Angels
The Three Rivers Gardening Angels is a group of gardening enthusiasts who meet monthly to learn more about gardening through formal speaker presentations and sharing of member experiences.  Annual dues cover participation in meetings and an annual member's garden walk and plant exchange.  Members' gardening expertise varies from beginner to those with many years of successful gardening experience.

United States Naval Sea Cadets - Abe Lincoln Division  
The Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a civilian, co-ed, non-profit, federally chartered training and education organization sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by the U.S. Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and other military services.  Its objectives are to develop an interest in seamanship, aviation and other related subjects while building in every cadet a sense of pride, patriotism, courage, self-reliance, discipline, confidence, character, and citizenship; instill in cadets an appreciation of military history, customs, traditions, and the importance of a strong sea service team; and familiarize cadets with the benefits and prestige of a military career.  Sea Cadets are for ages 13-17; Navy League Cadets are for ages 11-13.
