Located at the northeast corner of I-55 and Bluff Rd., the Channahon Corporate Center is an industrial project under construction by IDI Gazeley. The first building is approximately 750,000 square feet of space for manufacturing, logistics, and/or warehousing. A total of nearly 2-million square feet of building space may eventually occupy the site. Exchange Blvd. is being constructed as a new north-south road, which will eventually link Amoco Rd. with Bluff Rd. to serve the developments and alleviate frontage road traffic. Along with the site, offsite work will be conducted to improve the interchange at I-55 and Bluff Rd. This will include the addition of turn-lanes, improved turning radii, and signalization of the entrance/exit ramps. A new watermain will be extended from the water tower on Bluff Rd., under I-55, and ultimately end to serve the Channahon Corporate Center as well as future developments. Anticipated completion time for the interchange improvment is late 2017.
Little Learner Children’s Academy is expanding this time once again. Due to the love and support we have received from the Minooka/Channahon area, we have decided once again to expand our facility to offer more spots available to students and also welcome more jobs for the community. We will now have classrooms tailored specifically to the child’s age, for example, an infant room, a toddler room, 2 year old room, 3 year old room, and a Pre-Kindergarten classroom. With our in-house curriculum, Little Learner’s strives to produce the best learning environment in the community. We offer several different options for enrolling in our facility to try and accommodate all families needs when it comes to their families. We offer full-day preschool, AM/PM preschool, before and after school, summer camp for ages 2-12 year olds. A new salon has a planned opening of March 1, 2016 at 24503 W. Eames Street, in Channahon Plaza. This will replace the current location of Supersauce Tattoo Company. The salon will offer a variety of services including relaxers, smoothing treatments, color, braids, as well as retail products. The salon will be open 7 days a week. More information will be posted when it is available.
Located at 27025 W. Eames St, Unit A, Mugz’s Diner is now open. The diner will be open for breakfast and lunch, Tuesday thru Sunday at starting at 6:00am.
NOW OPEN. NAPA Auto Parts has moved to a new location at 25305 W. Eames St. (next to Casey’s). The new site opened for business in December 2016, but full signage was not ready for the building at the time of opening. Hours of operation can be found on the company website.
Located directly adjacent to BMO Harris Bank, near Ridge Rd. & US Route 6, Channahon is the newest location for NASCAR Car Wash. NCW Properties, LLC is an official NASCAR licensee and holds the exclusive license to build, brand and operate NASCAR Car Washes across the US and Canada. Approval for the project was given in the Summer of 2016, but a firm construction schedule has not yet been provided.
River Hawk Brewing will be joining the community in the Mallory Plaza shopping center. The Tap Room and Brewery will be opening in January, 2017 and will serve “uniquely crafted beers and wine,” which are created on-site.
Currently under construction in the Channahon Town Center, the St. Elizabeth Residences are a project by Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet. When complete, 48 apartments will be available for independent living for those aged 62 and over. The apartments are a mix of one and two bedroom units, with accessible units and adaptable units also available. Each apartment comes with its own attached garage space. The development will also feature a community clubhouse with on-site, live-in staff to oversee the facility. Along with the apartment and clubhouse facilities, St. Elizabeth Drive is being completed to connect the traffic circle near the Channahon Municipal Center with the western side of Town Center. Walking paths, green features, and open space are all integral parts which make the St. Elizabeth Residences conform to the Town Center Design Guidelines.
The business will be relocating to a larger unit at 24509 W. Eames Street on February 13, 2016.
While Thorntons travel center is currently open for business, there remains more to be done at the site. Additional parcels are developed and available for restaurant users and a hotel site to be located on the eastern portion of the property.
Still to come is a decorative stone and iron fence, which will be constructed with a new Welcome to Channahon display at the corner of the intersection. Utility pole conflicts are still being rectified ahead of this construction.
