The Channahon Police Department is a state-accredited organization dedicated to the community in striving to build and maintain the greatest level of trust and confidence of our citizens. The Police Department is comprised of various divisions such as administration, patrol, investigations, records, community relations, domestic violence, and school resources. We welcome comments and suggestions in order to maintain and strengthen our community partnerships.

Our administrative and police records offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm but our patrol division is on duty 24 hours per day.

Shane Casey, Chief of Police

Shane Casey was appointed Chief of Police in 2017. Shane has held the positions of Patrol Officer, Officer-in-Charge, Patrol Sergeant, and Deputy Chief of Administrations. He has a Bachelors of Science from Illinois State University, received his basic police training from the Illinois State Police Academy, and is a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. Shane is an active member of the Will County Chiefs of Police and the Grundy County Law Enforcement Managers Association. Shane sits on both the Will and Grundy County Local Emergency Planning Committees, is a member of the Dow/AmSty Community Advisory Panel, and serves as liaison/coordinator to both Will and Grundy County Emergency Management Agency.

Officer Carlson and K9 Officer Hutch

The Channahon Police Department is excited to announce the very first K9 Unit in the agency’s history. Officer Carlson and his K9 partner, Officer “Hutch”, are eager to serve the citizens of Channahon. Special thanks to Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow, Will County Board Members Ragan Freitag and Don Gould, The Feed Loft, Mallard Point Veterinary Clinic, and Puppy Cuts for making Hutch’s dream of becoming a Police Officer true.
