The Village of Channahon is accepting applications for a full time Clerk in the Public Works Department.  The preferred candidate must possess high ethical standards, be an effective communicator, and have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.  Job duties include, but not limited to: answering phones and emails, typing letters, filing, data entry, compiling/creating reports, and purchase orders.  Preferred candidate must be a high school graduate with courses in office procedures; clerical and typing experience and knowledge of Microsoft suite.   Starting salary is $38,940 per the Collective Bargaining agreement with IUOE Local 150 wage schedule.

Code Enforcement Officer

Code Enforcement Officer

 The Village of Channahon is accepting applications for a full time Code Enforcement Officer in the Community Development Department.  This is field inspection work in securing and maintaining compliance with Village code and ordinances for residential, commercial, and related properties.

The preferred candidate will possess experience with a variety of tasks and duties associated with the position such as, but not limited to: knowledge of Village functions and organizations; knowledge of Village, County, State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to code enforcement, land use, zoning, building permits, property maintenance codes, health, public safety, and public nuisances; ability to  prepare a variety of reports and analyses related to position; ability to operate a personal computer with software and programs necessary to perform work. 

This position requires graduation from a standard high school; vocational and technical courses in the building/maintenance trades; experience as an inspector or code enforcement of specific or similar work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  Good communication skills and ethics are a must.
