Comprehensive Plan

New Comprehensive Plan Underway - Re-ImagineUpdating the Comprehensive Plan

The Village of Channahon received for a grant from The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) for an updated Comprehensive Plan that includes professional assistance from CMAP staff and a planning consulting firm. The Village was one of only three projects in Will County to be approved to receive this grant.

The grant money is being used to develop a new comprehensive land plan. The award-winning planning firm of Houseal Lavigne Associates, along with the Village of Channahon and CMAP, have been working to gather community input and formulate a draft of the plan. The plan is expected to be unveiled for public comment in the summer of 2019. Final revisions and adoption of the plan should occur in September 2019.

The plan will guide the Village with not only recommended land uses, but shape multi-modal transportation networks, open space preservation, zoning regulations, and provide a framework for development over the coming decades.
