About Chief Casey
Shane Casey was appointed Chief of Police in 2017. Hired in October of 1995, Shane has held the ranks of Patrol Officer, Officer-in-Charge, Patrol Sergeant, and Administrative Deputy Chief of Police. Having graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in both Human Resources and Organizational Management, with a minor in Business Administrations, Shane went on to receive his basic police training certification from the Illinois State Policy Academy in Springfield, IL, and is a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command - an intensive leadership and management education program that helps prepare experienced law enforcement professionals for success in senior command positions.
Shane is an active member of the Will and Grundy County Chiefs Associations. Shane sits on both the Will and Grundy County Local Emergency Planning Committees - where he is Co-Chair on the Rules Committee, and Policy and Bylaws Committee, respectively. He is a member of the DuPont/AmSty Community Advisory Panel. Shane holds board positions as: Secretary of WESCOM's Chiefs Operating Committee; Chairman of Tri-River Mobile Training Unit 16 for Will, Grundy, and Kankakee Counties; and is Vice-President of the Grundy County Child Advocacy Center.
Shane is an active member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and a volunteer for Pink Heals Joliet Area Chapter.
