Board of Trustees Meeting Recap

Meeting Highlights for Monday, February 2, 2026


CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, February 2, 2026. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.

VOTES

The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:

  • Approved: Establishment of the Village of Channahon Arts and Culture Commission Fine Arts Scholarship
    • The Board approved the establishment of a $500 Channahon Arts & Culture Commission Fine Arts Scholarship to support graduating high school seniors residing within Village limits who plan to pursue higher education in the arts. Eligible applicants will be required to submit an application, portfolio or performance recording, letter of recommendation, and essay, with recipients selected by a committee using an established scoring matrix. More information on the scholarship, application process, and dates will be available in the coming months.
  • Approved: Approval of Change Order 1 for the Well #4 Rehabilitation Project
    • The Board approved the completion of the Well 4 Rehabilitation project, which included refurbishment of the pump, motor, and column pipe, as well as brushing and bailing of the well. The final change order decreases the contract by $1,162, resulting in a total project cost of $348,078.
  • Approved: O'Reilly Automotive Stores - Acceptance of Public Improvements and Release of Improvement Completion Guarantee
    • The Board approved acceptance of the completed public improvements - including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, roadway pavement, and parkway landscaping - and authorized release of Improvement Completion Bond No. 107876954 in the amount of $236,544. A two-year Maintenance Guarantee in the amount of $47,309 (20% of the original bond) will be retained in accordance with Village ordinance.
  • Approved: Approval of a Proposal with Midwest Signworks for Wayfinding Signage
    • The Board of Trustees voted to approve a $37,750 agreement with Midwest Signworks to design, fabricate, and install 28 replacement wayfinding signs at existing locations throughout the Village. The new signage will replace outdated signs that have reached the end of their service life.
