Channahon Police Department Tier 1 Assessment

Channahon E-News Posted on May 07, 2026

The Channahon Police Department will undergo an on-site assessment as part of its pursuit of Tier 1 accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), a program administered by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP). As part of this process, an assessor will visit the department on May 13th to conduct a comprehensive review of departmental policies, procedures, operations, and compliance with established professional standards.

Accreditation through ILEAP requires agencies to meet comprehensive standards designed to promote best practices in key areas including use of force, training, evidence handling, and officer safety. The on-site assessment is a critical component of the review process, ensuring the department not only maintains strong written policies but also demonstrates accountability and consistency in how those policies are applied in real-world situations.

Community input is an important part of the accreditation process. Members of the public are invited to offer comments regarding the Channahon Police Department’s ability to meet accreditation standards. Telephone Comments may be made by calling (815)-467-8355 on May 13th, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

More information about the accreditation process and what it means can be found at THE ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE WEBSITE.
