The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced extended weekend lane closures on Interstate 80 in Joliet beginning September 8 and continuing into November, weather permitting, to allow for bridge deck patching and repairs. This proactive repair work is being scheduled now to minimize future unplanned, emergency closures that have occurred on the interstate with more and more frequency.

I-80 will be reduced to one lane (one direction at a time) beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursdays until 5 a.m. on Mondays. IDOT is making every effort to minimize impacts on motorists; however, significant traffic delays are expected while work is completed. We encourage motorists to plan ahead and seek alternate routes based on their destinations, when possible. Additional information will be detailed each week on social media @I80Will.
