Meeting Highlights for Monday, July 21, 2025
CHANNAHON, Ill. - The Village Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole met on Monday, July 21, 2025. Highlights of the meeting are recapped in brief below. Please note: this media release does not reflect official minutes of the meeting.
VOTES
The Board voted on the following items during the formal meeting:
- Approved: An Ordinance Establishing a Moratorium on Issuance of Permits, Licenses, and other Approvals for Certain Trucking Related Uses
- The Board of Trustees approved an ordinance to pause approvals for 180 days for uses related to storage, parking, body work, repairs, and cartage facilities with respect to large trucks and semi-trailers.
- Approved: Approval of the Metropolitan Industries Inc. Proposal for Emergency Altitude Valve Repair at Water Tower #2
- Metropolitan Industries Inc. completed emergency repairs to the altitude valve at Water Tower #2 after discovering additional issues during initial work. The necessary approvals were obtained, and the equipment is now functioning properly.
- Approved: An Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Certain Personal Property Owned by the Village of Channahon, Will and Grundy County, Illinois
- The Village Board of Trustees approved an ordinance authorizing the sale of three retired Public Works vehicles: a 2004 Cargo Mate trailer, a 2004 Ver-Mac arrow board, and a 2012 John Deere UTV.
- Approved: Award 2025 Resurfacing Project
- On July 16, 2025, the Village of Channahon opened bids for a second roadway resurfacing project, with PT Ferro Construction submitting the lowest bid at $733,866.67. The project, which includes resurfacing, patching, curb and gutter replacement, and ADA sidewalk improvements, is within budget. The Board of Trustees approved awarding the bid to PT Ferro.
- Approved: Award Municipal Campus Patching Project
- On July 16, 2025, the Village of Channahon received bids for a Hot-Mix Asphalt patching project at the Municipal Campus, with D Construction submitting the lowest bid at $21,520.00. The project, which includes patching in the Village Hall and Police Department parking lots as well as the multi-use path, is within budget. The Board approved awarding the bid to D Construction.
BRIEFINGS
The Board was briefed on the following items during the Committee of the Whole:
- Statistical monthly reports for June 2025 were presented to the Committee of the Whole by the following departments: Village President, Village Administrator, Administration, Community Development, Finance, Police, and Public Works.
