***Important Information for Village of Channahon Water Customers East of the DuPage River***
As a result of a water main break that occurred at approximately 12:00 PM on 11/9/25, the Village has had to begin using its shallow wells as a water supply in order to maintain service continuity to affected residents. Residents affected by the watermain break have been notified by door hangers. As previously communicated (link), the Village’s shallow wells contain PFAS. This supply was discontinued voluntarily in April when it was found to exceed the IEPA maximum contaminant limits. These shallow wells will, again, be taken offline as soon as service can be safely restored. It is expected that the water supply containing PFAS could be used until at least mid-day on Wednesday, 11/12/25, for those residents affected by the watermain break.
This notice only applies to customers east of the DuPage River supplied by Village of Channahon wells. At this time, unless you have been notified by a door hanger, there is no need to boil your water as sometimes happens with a watermain break.
